The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling, the i3 EVO. They differ only in that the i3+ has self-emptying capabilities. The i3+ is a good option for those looking for a an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but are willing to manually empty the robot's dustbin once it gets full.
Both robots excel at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent at moving around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates smart maps of your home that help the i3+ navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ does not have the same obstacle avoidance capabilities as the i7+ or any other top-rated robots we tested. It could be stuck on power cords and socks and have trouble moving between different surfaces like hardwood and rug.
iRobot suggests that you clean the area in which the i3+ EVO vacuums before using it. This includes getting rid of any toys or other clutter it might come across. You should also keep the dustbin and filter clean to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+ EVO's internal bin is empty or the battery is low it returns to the docking station, and it automatically emptys the dirt into the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it started. The i3+ EVO's batteries last for about an hour and a half continuous use, and it takes around three hours to fully recharge.
2. Roomba from iRobot
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the top model in the iRobot flagship line and comes with all the latest features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most important feature of all -- it comes with self-emptying bins that eliminate one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ can map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and control your robot with voice or via the app.
The i7+ is faster and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces including carpeting. The main advantage it has over the Eufy is its self-emptying bin which eliminates major sources of maintenance and reduces recurring cost.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s integration with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning routines, move itself around the room and sweep an area. Connecting the i7+ to these services was easy and straightforward through the iRobot Home app. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ like "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options for managing i7+ settings and monitoring performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car that is amidst a sea of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful enough to replace a stand-up vacuum in a majority of homes, yet it is also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by a seven-cell, energy-dense lithium-ion battery which produces continuous, non-fading power for 60 minutes. Its sophisticated whole-machine filtration system traps allergens and releases clean air back into your home. Its specialized cleaning head drives bristles made of nylon that are stiff into carpets to trap large dust and crumbs. It has three suction modes to suit the task that is being completed. It is able to quickly change between handheld and floor vacuum and vice versa.
The model also comes with docks that charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users easy access to two attachments and a Wand clip. This is a huge improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The biggest issue with the V10 is its sluggish run time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is an average not an extraordinary run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. That's still enough run time to get rid of the majority of a home that's average size, but not quite long enough to get every single spot (though a second run-through usually will suffice). That's not to say this model doesn't have its advantages: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons, and its vacuuming efficiency is better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is an entry-level model that's a good option for those who don't wish to spend too much on a robot. It was able to pick up the majority of types of debris and sizes in our testing and often went over the same area several times to ensure a thorough clean. Its flat front design allows it to reach the corners and the edges of walls.
Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to stay clear of obstacles and navigate your home, but it isn't equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It can get stuck on phone cords or low furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects, as it has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower costs for recurring maintenance, has more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.
The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery longevity than the Roomba 694. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled using the voice assistant on your smartphone. It's also more robust, has a more powerful motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.
